I easily get off track doing the usual weekly newsletter. Plus, I'm wanting to reduce my paper consumption next year- and I know where all these newsletters eventually end up. #trashbin So, this Spring I started experimenting with a class website using Weebly for Education- and made a startling discovery. All of my parents who originally said they didn't have e-mail or access to the internet, suddenly all had a smartphone or a tablet, or access to a computer at work in order to see an e-book their child created and posted on the class blog.
So- my grand idea for the fall is to keep the updates going on the weebly site, and instead of sending home a newsletter, I'm going to generate a QR code for site access and/or special posts, print them on a 2X4 mailing label, and slap them on the kids jackets when they leave school at the end of the day.
In the deviousness of this idea lies the image of a child getting off the bus, and saying "Scan me, Mommy!".
Heather- That's an amazing idea! Can you please keep us posted! I also think it would be cool to have a student generated class blog where they write the posts and perhaps the teacher posts once a week?

That's the idea anyway. We'll see if it pans out!
